I am a Maryland State-approved LMSW and Mental Health Professional. Originally hailing from India, I am an experienced Medical Doctor (M.B.B.S., M.D.) with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital and health care industry. I am skilled in family medicine, clinical research, medical education, medicine, neuropharmacology, psychopharmacology, immunopharmacology, and conducting clinical trials. In my MD curriculum, I completed my dissertation on the evaluation of analgesic potential of an ethanolic extract of Piper betle Lin.
After migrating to the USA, I completed my MSW from the University of South Carolina and got licensed as a Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of Maryland and South Carolina. As a mental health professional, I have experience in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, SBIRT, CBT, clinical assessments, individual and family therapies. I have also worked with a vast population, from children as young as eleven years old to the geriatric population. As a medical doctor for 11 years and as a licensed therapist for 3 years, I have a plethora of experience in mental healthcare and have worked with clients facing homelessness, substance use, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional disorder, conduct disorder, explosive anger disorder, and adjustment disorder.
My primary goal is to create a safe and comfortable environment for all my clients. I employ a client-centered, strength-based approach, utilizing motivational interviewing to meet my clients' needs. I want to work towards building a strong and secure therapeutic relationship to help my clients achieve their therapeutic goals.
